As an Intermec AIT III subcontractor, Phase IV developed the AIT-enabled Pack-Up-Kit (PUK). The U.S. Navy needed to automate inventory processes for pack-up kits - large containers of parts used to service aircrafts. It also needed to track the parts as they were used. Intermec and partners implemented an RFID system that not only tracks parts, but decreased inventory times from 24 man-hours to a mere 30 minutes.

While new technology is always exciting, the end applications of this technology often fail to deliver what the hype has promised.
