MLX90129 Sensor Tag IC System Integration

Our Melexis Sensor Software supports all the chip functions–but only a few are needed in each application.  After defining the features you need, we can quickly develop a Graphical User Interface (GUI) that looks and feels the way you want–with all the features you need already built-in and tested.

Antenna development is our specialty. Our experience with passive sensor antenna design and our equipment to do rapid prototyping and testing will result in optimal read range performance.

We are familiar with multiple readers that we know work well with the MLX90129. Let us help you pick the right one for your application.

Phase IV has experience with hand-held readers and PC based readers.  Rather than designing a custom reader from scratch, let us modify an existing design.

Sensor calibration is a special skill.  Our calibration engineers can minimize (or eliminate) sensor calibrations and can leverage our Melexis-Auto-Cal system to deliver a precision sensor.

Tap into our 17 years of experience in the field of passive sensing.  We probably have ways to solve your problem that you never thought of!

Here's Why We Favor the MLX90129

Passive sensing mode allows for battery-free wireless sensing.

On-board, highly accurate temperature sensor is built in.

Inputs for two more external resistive input sensors allows for a 3-sensor system.

Resistive sensor inputs make the chip ideal for a wide range of sensing from humidity to magnetic fields.

Bridge sensor input is ideal for strain sensing.

External inputs accommodates low-mass, fast response time, tethered thermistors.

Simple yet powerful battery-powered configurable data logging feature.

On-board memory can be extended with EPROM memory – allowing for a huge number of time-based sensor samples and detailed process profiling.

SPI interface allows memory, an active transmitter, or other SPI devices to be connected to the chip.

Even after the battery dies, the data can be read using a wireless interface.

The 13 MHz wireless interface allows for the sensor to be completely sealed.

13 MHz antennas are simple to design and small.

The low power sleep mode maximizes the life of sensor batteries.

On-board gain and offset adjustments simplify sensor calibration and keep part counts minimal.

By using the ISO15693 RFID command set, a wide variety of readers can be used with the chip–from inexpensive low-power readers, to high-powered, long-range readers.

Why Work with Phase IV Engineering?

After thorough audits, Melexis determined that Phase IV Engineering, Inc. has the development tools and expertise to efficiently integrate the MLX90129 into any custom application.

Phase IV Engineering invented Passive RFID Sensing over 15 years ago and leverages this unique core competency to provide high-value, efficiently developed sensing solutions. We have miniature sensor circuit boards in-house, ready to be adapted to your sensing problem.

Our rapid prototyping system allows us to do quick and efficient proof of concept projects prior to investing in production-level engineering and production. We have inventory of parts on-hand that we have already qualified to effectively operate at demanding temperature ranges. Our on-site calibration lab and calibration engineers can make recommendations and develop calibration processes for high accuracy and fast response times.

Phase IV Engineering has invested in creating MLX90129 development tools for all the chip functions.  Don’t reinvent the same wheel that we have running.  We have experience with many MLX90129 projects.  Avoid “learning the hard way”.  We already did that for you.

Our engineering team has developed a full library of “extended commands” that are required for the chip to achieve full functionality.Systems Integration is our specialty. Beyond getting the MLX90129 running, we have extensive experience with readers, external sensor selection, sensor calibration, and sensor software that can be customized to individual applications.
