Predictive Maintenance and Condition Monitoring
Phase IV Engineering specializes in the design and development of custom wireless sensor-enabled RFID solutions for industrial applications to allow Predictive or Condition-Based Maintenance to identify potential machine faults and failure before they occur. One of the greatest advantages of our wireless sensor technology is the placement or embedding of sensors in locations that are usually difficult or impossible to access during a process, or where sensing is simply not possible using wired sensors. Our RFID wireless sensing technology allows us to employ unique approaches to solve difficult sensing problems. Whether it's detecting abnormal material wear or overheating, to detecting electrical problems - there is usually a sensor or combination of sensors that can be custom implemented to uncover many small, hidden, potential machine faults, deterioration, and failures before they occur.

Animal Health: Automatic Dairy Cow Temperature Monitoring System
Phase IV’s Dairy Cow Health Monitoring System provides automatic identification (RFID) and temperature monitoring of dairy cows for the early detection of disease. With the consolidation of dairies in the US, dairies are continuing to look for technologies that can identify sick or low producing dairy cows. Algorithms and protocols to identify fever and other milk producing diseases have reduced death loss from 7.5% to 5.5% in a typical 1,500 head dairy.

Off-Road-Truck (OTR) Tire Air Pressure Patch
Truck tire air pressure patch – active RFID tag with temperature and pressure measurement. An extremely rugged transmitter and repeater system that measures the temperature and pressure of large, expensive off road mining tires (OTR tires). Data is collected at the truck cab or fixed stations and transmitted to user’s system by Wi-Fi® link. |

Advanced Technology Ordnance Surveillance (ATOS)
Active RFID tags developed for the U.S. Navy for long-term monitoring and recording of temperature, humidity and shock exposure of ordnance. The system included handheld receivers, or fixed receivers, that could be networked such that data from many hundreds of tags could be downloaded in just a few minutes. Tags had a long battery life of seven years.

Phase IV developed an advanced wireless sensor network system for Department of Defense (DoD) use. Specialized protocols, secure transmission, high data through-put, self-configuring, self-healing, and large networks are hallmarks of the Phase IV system. Network gateways have integrated Ethernet, Wi-Fi®, Bluetooth® and SATCOM connectivity. Systems have been deployed in military container monitoring and other applications that are proprietary.
