Electrical Engineering Technician Experience with Designing New Products—Work with Development Team
Phase IV Engineering, an innovative leader in the application of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Wireless Sensing, is expanding its engineering team and seeking an electrical engineering technician to support the expansion our product lines into new markets.
Over the last decade, Phase IV has developed a wide range of innovative Wireless Sensing and RF systems with unique and proprietary technology. New technology developments and market opportunities that leverage our technology have created an immediate need to expand our electrical engineering design team.
This position will be working directly with innovative, senior design engineers – supporting them and doing design work on leading-edge product design projects. Because this position will be working on multiple projects, high flexibility and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment are required.
Typical Duties:
- Supporting senior design engineers to allow them to focus on high-level design.
- Electrical design and trouble-shooting.
- Prototyping beta assemblies, testing, conducting technical analysis, collecting data, and reporting on early designs.
- Develop and conduct design validation testing.
- Use design validation testing to create specifications for production testing.
- Modifying existing test methods and tooling to optimize test and calibration operations.
- Assisting with sourcing or fabricating parts for prototype builds.
- Debugging circuit boards – both early designs and production boards.
- Assisting with initial assembly and test of the first production units.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology – or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a design environment, doing electrical design work.
- Experience and ability to be given general guidance about a technical problem, and deliver a creative solution.
- Experience with radio frequency design.
- Willing to help the team in a variety of roles – depending on the need at the time.
- Experience in a “product” design environment where designs are put into production and revenue is generated from sales of finished products.
- Analog and digital circuit design experience.
- Development of automated test fixtures, electronics, and software for automated testing of electronic devices.
- Experience with supporting the design process by doing prototype assembly and testing.
Preferred (but not required) Skills and Experience:
- Schematic capture and PCBA Design (experience with PADS software is ideal).
- CAD experience and basic mechanical drafting skills.
- Low Frequency RF Antenna Development.
